Requests for transit bus schedules and tee times at city golf courses topped Winnipeggers' reasons for calling 311 during July, August and September, the city says. Of nearly 500,000 calls and emails that came to the 311 contact centre in the third quarter of this year, transit was the hottest topic among information requests, and golf times the most popular service request. More than 89,000 callers or emailers wanted information about bus schedules and close to 7,000 sought to book tee times.
Since its launch last Jan. 16, the 311 contact centre -- which provides bilingual responses 24 hours a day -- has handled 1.5 million calls and more than 34,000 emails. After transit bus schedules, the most frequent information requests from July 1 to Sept. 30 pertained to recreation and leisure, miscellaneous transit questions, water services and garbage/recycling. The top service requests after tee times were recreation and leisure registration, parking authority/ticket payment, Neighbourhood Livability services and requests related to bulky garbage pickup and autobins.
